NBA Draft 2016 Updates: Simmons to 76ers, Ingram to Lakers
After the conclusion of the dramatic and very competitive NBA Finals, it is time for every team to add some arsenals again for the next season. Coaches and fans are hopeful that the latest additions will greatly improve their teams and mount another run for the coveted NBA Championship - or even just an improvement to its rankings. For all who are interested with the latest upgrades, here are the updates of the 1st Round of the 2016 NBA Draft:
1. The Philadelphia 76ers picked Ben Simmons, a promising 6’ 10” forward from LSU. This kid can easily be an All-Star. There might be questions about his leadership in LSU but based on his performance he is a big plus to 76ers offense. Allen Iverson was the previous No. 1 pick acquired by the 76ers and it went pretty well. We hope that this one will also does.
2. Los Angeles Lakers chose Brandon Ingram, a 6’ 9” forward from Duke. The Lakers is looking for the next big thing after worst franchise records and Kobe Bryant’s retirement. With Luke Walton’s leadership, this young gifted kid could easily improve as one of NBA’s exciting talents. Usually compared to Kevin Durant, he can be another Laker’s legendary player.
3. Boston Celtics selected Jaylen Brown, a 6’ 7” forward from California. Brad Stevens' defensive schemes is significant in the Celtics’ choice. This very athletic player can add more muscle and torque for Turner and Thomas.
4. Phoenix Suns picked Dragan Bender, a 7′ 1″ forward/center from Croatia. That is enough height right there. He is this year’s top international prospect and a big boost for the Suns frontcourt. He is a versatile player and might be the next Porzingis or better. He is young though and needs some adjustments for his next team.
5. Minnesota Timberwolves chose Kris Dunn, a 6’ 3” guard from Providence. He is the first guard drafted in the 1st round and that is because Tom Thibodeau likes his defensive style as a small guy. This is Thibodeau's first year and he surely wants some extra help for Andrew Wiggins on the wing. Dunn is a versatile, aggressive combo guard who received impressive awards as a college player, perfect for the role.
