Gilas without a break at the Jones Cup

Gilas Pilipinas will start their campaign in the upcoming 2017 Jones Cup against Canada's 3D Global Sports on July 15.

After this, the National team will take nine straight games in the Taipei invitational tourney as part of their tune-up for the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August.

After their opening game against the Canadians, Gilas will face Taipei A, Taipei B, Japan, Korea, Iraq, Lithuania, India and Iran respectively.

Because of the Jones Cup organizers' knowledge of Gilas' ability, they set the team up for the Iranians in the final day of the competition.

Iran has five times the reign of Jones Cup over the past eight years, while Gilas won in 2012 and check this Iranians in 2015.

Meanwhile, Gilas is not sure about the FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon next month because it was not discussed at the PBA board meeting on Thursday.
The only thing that was approved was Gilas's participation in the Jones Cup and the SEA Games.

SEAG veterans Troy Rosario, Baser Amer, Almond Vosotros, Kevin Ferrer, Kiefer Ravena and Ray Ray Parks, Paras, Jose, Standhardinger, Mike Tolomia, Von Pessumal and Carl Bryan Cruz will wear national colors at the Kuala Lumpur Games.

Reyes also considered taking 7-1 behemoth Kai Sotto, but changed his mind due to the potential complications of the player's collegiate eligibility.
